FAQ

Everything you need to know

How are tooth gems applied?+

Tooth gems are applied using a dental-grade adhesive and cured with a UV light to securely bond crystals or gold to the client's tooth. The process is similar to attaching an orthodontic bracket and is relatively quick and painless. No drilling or enamel alteration is required, and the application is semi-permanent.

Should I get teeth whitening first?+

Yes, if you are considering whitening, it's best to do so at least a week before applying the gem. Whitening immediately before or after gem application can weaken the bond, leading to quicker detachment. Performing both procedures in one session is not advised, as the whitening chemicals may interfere with the adhesive.

How long will the gem last?+

The gem's longevity can vary, typically lasting from a few months to a year, depending on factors like brushing habits, diet, and mouth injuries. Chewing hard foods, using retainers, or brushing too vigorously may shorten the gem's lifespan.

What happens if I swallow the gem?+

Tooth gems should be made from lead-free crystals or high-quality, dental-grade gold. If swallowed, these materials are generally safe and should pass through the body without issues.

Is my tooth suitable for a tooth gem?+

Tooth gems bond only to natural tooth material, meaning they cannot be applied to veneers, crowns, dentures, or gold teeth. Clients should have good oral health. If prone to sensitivity (e.g., to cold beverages), a tooth gem may exacerbate this. For any concerns about sensitivity or suitability, consult a dentist. Only gems provided by the studio are allowed, as outside materials cannot be verified for dental safety.

How old must I be to get a tooth gem?+

You must be at least 18 years old to get a tooth gem. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to provide consent and sign the required paperwork.
